National Immunisation Program changes from 1 July 2018 will be in affect.
The National Immunisation Program us designed to improve protection against meningococcal, pneumococcal and Haemophilus Influenzae type B diseases.
- At 12 months of age, children will receive a NEW combined meningococcal ACWY vaccine that protects against the A, C, W and Y strains (instead of meningococcal C).
- At 18 months of age, children will receive the single Hib vaccine, protecting against Haemophilus Influenzae type B (previously given as a combined vaccine with meningococcal C at 12 months).
- At 2, 4 and 12 months of age, children will receive the infant pneumococcal vaccine (instead of at 2, 4 and 6 months).
The National Immunisation Program aims to increase national immunisation rates by funding free vaccination programs and communicating information about immunisation to the general public and health professionals. For more info head to the government website here.
