Nestle In Goonellabah | Sleep Routines and facilities

At Nestle In Childcare Centre Goonellabah we are proud to offer modern and well-equipped facilities that cater to every families’ needs. An important aspect of your child’s care is their comfort and security; this also applies to their rest times.

The legislated regulatory standards for sleep, rest and relaxation in early childhood education and care have recently changed. The National Quality Framework for Early Childhood Education and Care now requires that each long day care, family day care, and preschool service has policies and procedures in place for sleep, rest and relaxation. These policies must document how your child’s centre will provide for each child’s comfort and wellbeing, and how they will align with children’s individual needs.

The changes to the Framework for Early Childhood Education reflects that sleep-rest practices in early childhood education settings are often an area of concern. The majority of services approach child’s rest through a standard period in the middle of the day when children are required to lie down, whether or not they are tired or able to sleep. These practices fail to consider children’s individual needs or those children who are tired outside the scheduled sleep/rest time. There are always children who cannot sleep either because the timing of the sleep period is wrong for their body clocks or because they have simply grown out of naps.

Sleep routines are an important factor for parents who seek to maintain their child’s sleep patterns. Therefore, responsiveness to children’s developmental and emotional needs are at the heart of quality at Nestle In Goonellabah Preschool and Early Learning Centre. Studies have shown that responsive sleep-rest practices are a barometer of quality. Centres and services that have the most flexible sleep-rest practices are those observed to have the highest-quality practices at other times of day and Nestle In are proud to offer this to the children in our care.

At Nestle In Goonellabah Preschool and Early Learning Centre, we also provide separate sleep rooms for our various age groups. For example; the Tadpoles room (0-2) is a breathable and spacious room with full viewing facilities, monitors and air conditioning. The separate sleep rooms ensure that children, at different developmental stages, are not disturbed by the other children’s sleeping patterns. Our recently renovated kitchen with a qualified chef serving nutritious meals and using mostly locally sourced produce that guarantees your child’s nutritional needs are met. These factors are important to ensure that your child is not only well nourished but also has a peaceful rest.

Our flexible practices occur as we see sleep, rest and relaxation as integral to children’s care and education. This is achievable to Nestle In as we have adequate staffing across the day, to ensure we can attend to every child’s individual needs.

Early Childhood Educators Day!

Educators Day

Thank you to our Educators from us

We took the time to say thank you to all our staff last week for Early Childhood Educators Day!

This day recognises and celebrates the work of Australia's educators in early learning centres (long day care centre based), kindergarten/preschool services, family day care, occasional care and Outside School Hours Care (OSHC), for their wonderful contribution to the wellbeing and healthy development of the young children in their care.

It's also a chance to say thank you to not just our centre and educators but to all Australia’s early childhood educators on a very personal level by service operators, families and their children, as well as collectively at the national level.

This year, Early Childhood Educators Day took place on Wednesday 5th September.

Thank you to our Educators from our children

Our children took the time to thank all our educators on the day in their own special way.

It was a fun day had by all.

Goonellabah Childcare Centre Wins Award for Excellence

One of the region’s childcare centres has been crowned the best in ‘Personal Services’ at the Lismore Property Managers Business Excellence Awards, held last weekend. Owner and founder of Nestle In Preschool and Early Learning Centre Goonellabah, Lisa Martin, could hardly contain her excitement after the acknowledgement – and for winning her first business award, hopefully, the first of many.

Lisa was presented with the ‘Personal Services’ award by Thomas George MP, Member for Lismore, and sponsored by the Lismore Chamber of Commerce, at the Gala Event last Saturday night, at Trinity Sports Hall, Lismore. “This is a huge shock! I feel extremely grateful, it’s an incredible honour and achievement to win this award because it means all the hard work and dedication myself and the team have put into the centre since taking over in 2011 is being well and truly recognised,” says Lisa.

“The award solidifies the collaboration of our carefully selected team who are wholly dedicated to providing our children with the love and nurture we believe they need. Each and every child at our centre(s) are taught valuable skills that will prepare them all the way through to Primary school and beyond. Everything we’ve achieved stems from our passion and ever-evolving vision of how childcare should be and the exceptionally high standards we work to for our children and their families.”

In Lisa’s acceptance speech, she thanked the Chamber of Commerce and Barefruit Marketing in Ballina, who have worked with Nestle In across all their marketing. She also congratulated all of the finalists. Since taking over the Goonellabah centre 9 years ago, Lisa has been the driving force behind the success of Nestle In Goonellabah. This is just one of 3 centres run by Lisa – along with her dedicated team she also runs Nestle In Alstonville and Possum Place Childcare Alstonville.

She ensures they are always at the forefront in offering an inclusive environment that caters for all backgrounds, cultures and developmental abilities. Lisa considers herself and her team lucky to be on a platform where they can support children and their families in an authentic manner and make a lifelong difference in their early years. The Nestle In story began 16 years ago when Lisa purchased the Alstonville centre in 2002.

In 2012 Lisa wanted to share her passion with the Goonellabah community and rescued the centre in Oliver Avenue from Lismore Council.  The Goonellabah centre has grown considerably year on year. Beginning with just 11 enrolled students across two days to now employing 13 staff members, including a permanent in-house chef that operates out of a state-of-the-art kitchen facility. The centre currently cares for and educates 45 children on a daily basis.

Nestle In is a purpose built and privately-owned long day care centre that cares for babies through to toddlers (0-5 years) and is conveniently open from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm to suit working or studying families. They have a restaurant-grade kitchen on site where their qualified chef prepares fresh, organic meals for the children daily. “Our entire staff believe in creating a welcoming space for children and families to grow and learn in a safe, nurturing, fun and educational environment. We provide the highest quality Early Childhood Programs which meet the emotional, physical, social and intellectual needs of each individual child,” she says.

Nestle In will now head to the Northern Rivers Regional Business awards taking place later this year.

Lismore Business Excellence Award Finalists

This weekend, Nestle In Goonellabah will be in the running for the Personal Services & Aged Care category to win an Award at the Lismore Chamber of Commerce Business Awards.

This is the first time we've entered an award and are absolutely thrilled to be involved in a community event recognising businesses for their hardwork and dedication.

Nestle In Preschool and Early Learning Centre Goonellabah, near Lismore has been proudly based in a welcoming space of Oliver Avenue Goonellabah since 2011 and was founded by Lisa Martin.

It is a purpose built and privately owned long day care centre that cares for babies through to toddlers (0-5 years) who are nurtured and taught valuable life skills that will prepare them all the way through to Primary School (and beyond).

Nestle In Goonellabah was born out of a need for families who were in the work force or studying, looking for quality education and care centre for their children with a safe and secure environment.

The Nestle In story started back in 2002, 9 years beforehand, when Lisa Martin turned her unwavering passion for caring for children into a fully (and still) operational day centre, Nestle In Alstonville.

Since then, Lisa took over the Koala Childcare Centre in Goonellabah, which was to be shut down by council due to no suitable tenders. Lisa took the challenge knowing the business needed some serious attention including re-staffing, rebranding, refurbishing and filling occupancy; with only 19 enrolled students across two days, and 9 staff members.

The business is now known as Nestle In Goonellabah and is growing year and on year, filling the gap in the market for regional child care. The centre currently holds 42 students with 32 permanent staff, 3 casual and 3 contractors including, 2 out of the 9 original staff members.

Since the beginning Lisa, with her team, have the been the driving force behind the success of Nestle In and have been the forefront in offering an inclusive environment that caters for all cultures, developmental abilities. She considers herself and her team lucky to be on the platform where they support child(ren) and families in an authentic manner and make a difference in their lives.

Our entire staff believe in creating a welcoming space for children and families to grow and learn in a safe, nurturing, fun and educational environment. We provide the highest quality Early Childhood Programs which meet the emotional, physical, social and intellectual needs of each individual child.

The Gala event will be held on Saturday night 18th August, at the Trinity Catholic College in Lismore. Wish us luck!

Woolworths Fresh Food Kids Discovery Tour!

Woolworths Kids Tour-15627

Last week, our little ones were involved in the Woolworths Fresh Food Kids Discovery Tour! Whether they’re a fussy eater or sweet lover, getting children to eat fruit and veggies every day can be tricky.

With Woolworths we're on a mission to show Australian kids just how delicious, healthy, and even fun, eating fruit and veggies can be. This is why our little ones, with us, went to our local Woolworths store to discover and learn more about the colourful world of fresh produce.

Here's some pictures taken on the day:

The Lismore Lantern Parade

A burst of lights beamed up the streets of Lismore on Saturday 23 June for this year's huge Lantern Parade.

From 12pm right through until 9pm families and friends came together, including our Alstonville centres Nestle In AlstonvillePossum Place Alstonville Preschool & Early Learning Centre to join our Goonellabah children and families as they carried hand made and decorated lanterns in the parade. The parade starts from 5:30pm – 6:30pm from the corner of Market and Molesworth Street and will culminate at The Quad in Rural Street, Lismore to represent the centre.

We had an overwhelming response to our participation in the Lismore Lantern Parade. Here are some more memories of the Lismore Lantern Parade 2018 and our head facilitator Lisa Martin was so proud to be leading our cohort escorted by the giraffe.

This special sharing time was a highlight for our families and friends. It is a chance for everyone to get together outside of school hours and enjoy some local and nearby community festivities.

The little ones had a wonderful time sharing and creating the lanterns, it evoked great emotion and a sense of connection for all. It’s beautiful to watch a child develop learn through immersing themselves in something they can be proud of and participate in. As well as it's just as important as early brain development to see the joy of seeing the children smile, laugh & play.

We’re apart of this year’s Lismore Lantern Parade

Goonellabah Nestle In Centre is a part of this year’s huge Lismore Lantern Parade that will take place on Saturday 23 June 2018 from 12pm right through until 9pm.

A group of children and parents will carry lanterns in the parade to present the centre. The parade starts from 5:30pm – 6:30pm from the corner of Market and Molesworth Street and will culminate at The Quad in Rural Street, Lismore to represent the centre.

The lanterns that will be carried in the parade are all made by volunteers and decorated by our little ones amongst others. A lantern decorating session was held at the centre at which the children were able to add their own touches to the lanterns.

The Quad is Lismore’s new green space in the heart of the CBD, situated between the new Regional Art Gallery, the Northern Rivers Conservatorium and the Regional Library. With the change in venue from Oakes Oval this year, there will be no tickets, just entry by donation

The Lantern Parade theme is ‘wonderland’ and will be a cross between an enchanted fairy tale paradise and a colourful fantasy dreamland. The Quad will be transformed into a magical wonderland full of light projections, fire art, bonfire, fireworks, delightful creatures and luminous garden surprises that will amaze and inspire.
